Роберт Данкофф (англ. Robert Dankoff) – америкалык заманбап түрколог, баласагын таануучу, кашгари таануучу, Осмон булактары жана ислам дүйнөсүнүн тарыхы жана адабияты боюнча адис, илим доктору, профессор. АКШдагы Чикаго университетинин ардагер профессору.

Ал АКШнын Нью-Йорк штатына караштуу Рочестер шаарында өскөн. Беш-алты жашынан жөөт тилин үйрөнө баштаган.

АКШнын Колумбия университетине караштуу коллежге окууга өткөндө, ал чет тил катары немис тилин тандап алган.
Андан ары окуусун улануу үчүн немис тил мугалими ага Стэнфорд университетин сунуштаган. Ал Стэнфорддон окууга “өттүң” деген сунуш алган. Бирок грант (стипендия) жетишсиз болгондуктан, Роберт бул окууга бара албай калган.
Ошол арада ал 1960-жылдардын башында Түркиянын Синоп аттуу порт шаарында “Тынчтык корпусунун” алкагында иштөө үчүн ыктыярчы болуп кеткен. Оболу АКШда, андан соң Стамбул шаарында ага Түркиядагы турмуш жөнүндө бет ачар сабактар болгон.
Түркияда ал жергиликтүү түрк маданиятына кызыгып калган. Синопто бир орто мектепте ал англис тилинен 2 жыл сабак берген. Ошол эле жылдары ал жергиликтүү түрк молдого англис тилинен сабак берсе, ал болсо Робертке арап тилинен сабак өткөн.

1964-жылы АКШнын Колумбия университетинде адабият факультетинде бакалавр даражасын алды.
Андан соң АКШнын Гарвард университетине Жакынкы Чыгыш тилдери жана адабияты факультетине магистрдик даража үчүн окууга өткөн. 1971-жылы АКШнын Гарвард университетинде (Harvard University) докторантураны аяктады.
Анын жактаган доктордук диссертациясы (PhD) Махмуд Кашгари Барсканинин чыгармачылыгына арналган.
Акыры ал досу Жеймс Келли менен биргелешип Кашгаринин “Диванын” англис тилине которгон.
